IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Norway (Kongeriket Norge, he has no human name in canon, but I surely can add one if that pleases you.)
Age: Norway doesn’t have an age in canon, but considering the other Nordics seem twenty-ish, I would go with that as far as appearance goes. His real age is well over 1500 years.
Canon Point: Modern era, May 2012
Species: An embodiment of a nation.
Gender: Male.
Orientation: I don’t think we even see Norway interacting with a woman in canon. However, this doesn’t speak for his orientation. Actually, there isn’t anything that does. In my interpretation it isn't a question of gender to him but rather a question of interest as a whole. Norway, like other Scandinavian countries, is liberal considering LGBT rights, and that leads me to think that at least he has no objections to same sex marriage. If you want an educated guess, I'd say a very uninterested bi.
History: History of Norway, Hetalia archives: Norway. Naturally if you need more, I will provide.
Appearance: The most distinct feature of Norway is his blatantly simplistic expressionlessness. Even when he’s punching Denmark or flipping out and trying to beat cat!France he seems to be as coolly collected as he would be reading a newspaper. He is built slight and pale of colors except that of his deeply blue eyes. He isn’t as tall as Denmark or Sweden, but towers slightly over Finland. He mostly dresses in blue, and has a Nordic cross pin in his hair on the right side. His fjords float beside his head as a swirl and a dot. Here is a picture of him.
Personality: It would be easy to describe him as a socially inept recluse. But that would only scratch the surface. At first glance you might be very tempted to result to such simplicity, however, witnessing his muttered point blank commentary that doesn’t neither aim nor is nice and quite often devised to jab to an obvious weak points (or less so in case of familiar and familial connections). More accurate deduction would be found from his lack of self-conscious uncertainty, confidence and simply dislike of complicated social interaction. Factual, straightforward and drawn to simplicity – it is the Scandinavian stereotype and yet more so, a personality.
Often cold and stoic by the first impression, enigmatic as the deep waters of his fjords, perhaps mysterious to a point of annoyance, and he does absolutely nothing to disabuse you of this presumption. It serves him well enough to showcase his introverted nature from get-go. However, it would be incorrect to call him “cold”. For someone so uncaring, he appears quite often in the company of the other Nordics. And towards them, especially towards Iceland, he acts less aloof than the rest of the world. It isn’t just in his personality to make a point of something he considers to be obvious. Chances are that he would come clean the moment someone would ask him, feeling little embarrassment over something that is as big a part of him as his bloody history. Norway isn’t ashamed of either.
Curt and occasionally violent, he might seem like a simple brute. And there seems to be little speaking against the picture of a grunting barbarian. But when you see him teasing Iceland, whom Norway seems to be devoted to even beyond the usual antics of the Nordics, or when you see him bicker with Denmark, you’ll see a completely different person. Someone with wits, sharp sense of humor and effortless interaction and even his own peculiar kind of charm. Suddenly he doesn’t seem like a social recluse anymore.
Norway is a private person. He likes his personal space, and you just don’t walk into that circle that he accepts closer to him. It takes centuries to get on his good side. Both demanding and hard headed, he is proud and honest, not bothering to give any lip service where it doesn’t belong. You’ll rarely hear him say “thank you” or “sorry” if ever. He believes firmly in principles such as “every man for himself” and hardly expects anyone to treat him any differently - do and you might find yourself with one very awkward Norwegian.
Abilites: He’s an embodiment of a nation, which means that he has a connection with Norway. What happens to the people of Norway, to the land and the state, affects him as well. Nations aren't immortal, but damn close to it with longevity that borders immortality. For less magical abilities he’s skilled in the most stereotypical Norwegian skills of course, including but not limited to fishing and various nature related skills. He is also capable of talking with various magical creatures and seems to be one of the few in his canon who can see them at all. And it is mentioned that he’s capable of performing magic, whatever that means.

SAMPLES
First Person: [Cellphone text entry]
In a few days Norway is playing England. Will if my country still exists.
So, who do I have to beat up to get NRK to show in my TV?
[Soccer is serious business after all. Especially a game against England.
Norway has never missed one, and he doesn’t plan on missing this one either.
A note has been taped to the fridge door: “ On Saturday, the TV is mine. “]
---
It is hard to write long entries for this character. He speaks little and in short sentences. This is very unofficial but here is a longish thread with general interaction.
Third Person: It starts with a sigh. Norway lowers his gaze from the sunny sky to the dusty road ahead of him and the dirt smeared across his shoe. It is a relatively modern, black running shoe, he’s quite sure he’d find a logo of a popular brand from the bottom would he bother to check. He hasn’t. These were the shoes he woke up with, and the ones he left in the foyer as he stepped into the house that apparently was his. The same shoes he’s left in the same foyer for countless times now.
They are very comfortable.
But they’re not his own. And this is what bothers him more than he would ever admit to anyone.
Getting something free is a concept that he doesn’t quite understand; a source of endless anxiety that holds him captive. Yes, he has gone through crippling poverty before; he has been starving and suffering from countless wars. He isn’t afraid of hardship. But in the past there were little choices left for him; no one asked him if he thought Germany should invade or if Denmark should sic him at Sweden in hopes of getting a bit of land in return. And in the end even his private opinion wasn't his own to decide on. Even nations have kings and queens.
Now, however, it is all in his hands. The reason he wears jeans is because his wardrobe came equipped with them. The reason he sits on the porch most of the day and just stares at the sky is because he has nothing else to do. It’s a dilemma he’s never faced before. Responsible just for himself, of himself, to himself. It all depends on him. After nearly two thousand years of existing as a nation, the concept doesn’t quite open to him instantly.
Evidently, this chain of thought has led him here, standing in front of a large school building, umbrella in his hands and a frown upon his brows. It was either this or a fish shop, and while he likes fish, he doesn’t want to smell like it all day long. Nearly two thousand years of life experience. There must be something he can teach these brats.
Inside, dull blue eyes regard the secretary behind a neat desk with patient disinterest. She greets him politely and obviously waits for him to state his business. He doesn't. Nothing beyond a curt nod. Only after her nervousness starts to annoy him, he’ll venture a simple: “Job interview. Ya can show me th' way.”
OTHER
Housing Request?: Nope! Just a side note about the fact that Norway can be quite a handful with bouts of off-hand violence. So, I’d appreciate it if he wouldn’t be paired up with someone who is a hopeless pushover. I’d feel bad about the random abuse that might happen upon irritation on his part.
Did you read the rules and FAQ?: Yup!
